Angie Brooks studied art at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and the New World School of the Arts in Miami, where she received a fine art scholarship from the Rubell Collection. Although, it was through her travels that she had her own personal renaissance and began to paint.
“While I was living in Italy, my days were filled with history, wandering around absorbing the art and culture. I remember standing in front of La Primavera by Botticelli and weeping. I returned to the states a different person… It changed my life.”
Since then she has traveled to all continents, and worked as an artist for over 20 years, owning a business creating custom art and murals, fine art, trompe l'oeil, faux finishes and creative children's rooms. She has been commissioned by numerous talented interior designers, builders and clients for residential and commercial endeavors in NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, LA, Miami, Costa Rica, Naples, and Indianapolis, where she was raised.
In her fine art, she uses many mediums, from oils, ink, canvas, paper, text, organic pigments, metal leaf; creating expressionistic organic imagery that explores themes of the sacred human spirit and it's journey, ancient cultures, symbolism, language, poetry, divinity, inter-connectedness and nature.
“My sensitivity to culture and life is always evolving, and my path continues as an emerging artist. Free to explore. Free to be. Each new work is a new journey… to be creative, to be whole and connect to life~ and my creative energy.”
She is also an accomplished free-lance writer and has been published in Parent and Child magazine and a featured artist in Casa y Estilo International,
Naples Illustrated, Bonita Living, Neapolitan Family, News-Press, Palm Tree Press, and the Bonita Banner.
She is chapter leader of Atlanta Kids for Peace, a writer for Atlanta Art and Culture Examiner, mommy, volunteer, activist, blogger, culture seeker and citizen of the world.
